Commodities Corner: Taking some cues from oil’s history
Myra P. Saefong of MarketWatch.com interviews Money and Markets editor Sean Brodrick about Middle East parallels.
“Traders are trying to learn from history,” said Sean Brodrick, an editor at Weiss Research. “History, they tell themselves, repeats itself.”
But the truth is more complex than that, he said. “History doesn’t repeat — it rhymes” — it sees variations on a theme, with no exact repeats.
“And this bad news could drag on longer — and get worse — than anyone expects,” said Brodrick.
