C. Douglas “Doug” Davenport has more than 33 years of successful investment management experience.
After successful tenures at several financial firms including Kidder Peabody, Mr. Davenport was hired by Sir John Templeton, founder of the Templeton Funds, to launch and manage The Wisdom Fund in 1998.
As manager of The Wisdom Fund, Mr. Davenport outperformed the S&P 500 for a decade and earned 5-Star Morningstar ratings for ten of the eleven years during which he managed that fund.
In 2006, “Sir John” tapped Mr. Davenport to help him develop and manage a unique strategy for managing a model portfolio of exchange traded funds (ETFs).
The strategy employs a proprietary set of technical timing tools, trading five ETFs hand-picked by Sir John to give investors exposure to major asset classes: Stocks, gold, oil and currencies.
After Sir Templeton passed away in 2008, Mr. Davenport left Templeton investments to form his own money management firm.
As a tribute to the legacy of his friend and mentor, Mr. Davenport continued to operate the model portfolio he had co-created with Sir John.
Today, Doug serves as President and Chief Investment Officer of Davenport Investment Management, LLC, an investment firm that manages portfolios for high-net-worth clients in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mr. Davenport uses the technical analytical strategy co-developed with Sir John Templeton in 2006 to manage his clients’ money. Minimum investment for his money management clients is $100,000.In February, 2013, Mr. Davenport joined the Weiss Research Team and is making his market commentary and “buy” and “sell” signals available to members of his All-Weather Investor service at an affordable annual membership rate.
Additionally, Mr. Davenport is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and graduated Cum Laude with a Juris Doctorate Degree from John Marshall School of Law.
He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and Fiduciary Law and Elder Law Sections of State Bar and served on the Finance Committee of the State Bar of Georgia, 2011 through 2013.
Mr. Davenport has also served on the Board of Governors of the University of Tennessee, as president of the University of Tennessee’s Atlanta Alumni Association, and many other prestigious organizations.
