Three steps forward, two steps back’ housing recovery on schedule

Pending home sales jumped more than 6 percent in September, the National Association of Realtors said Monday.

It was the eighth consecutive monthly rise — the longest streak since the Realtors’ group started counting in 2001.

With home prices more affordable, NAR estimates 3 million renters now are in position to buy a median-priced home
